Many people lie for many reasons it is a common human behavior. Sometimes people lie to please themselves. Another, reason people might lie to not hurt some else feelings. Last reason people will always lie to avoid punishment. There are three important reason that people lie. These are to please themselves, to not disappoint another person, and to avoid punishment. Firstly, many people lie to please themselves. For example, a teenager lies about going to the movies with her friend, but she is meeting her boyfriend. This teenager doesn't want her parents to know because she will get in trouble. The teenager is afraid to tell the truth and get rejected by her parents. This teenager might not be doing anything wrong, but prefers to lie about her date night. This teenager is avoiding to tell the truth so, her parents don't have any worries or restrict the teenagers freedom. Also, many people lie to avoid a disappointment from another person. Lying to a friend that her boyfriend is cheating on her. This friend is trying to not hurt her friends feeling because she sees that her friend is happy with her boyfriend. She wants to avoid making her friends sad. In the other hand, this is called "white lies"; still this type of lies is to protect the feeling of a person. This friend will find out sooner or later that her boyfriend is cheating on her and this will cause problems because her friend knew about it and did not advise her . This friend will start lying more to avoid her friend to be mad at her. In addition, sometimes when people do something wrong they choose to lie about it. For example, a child that breaks a mom's favorite glass vase and lies that he or she didn't do it. This child is scared about the punishment and consequences that his or her mom will give. This child is trying to escape from his or her punishment. A lie will create more lies; it's like a cycle that will never stop. In conclusion, there are many reason a person lies; however it's part of the human nature to lie. A person tend to think that lying will solve the problem there in, but lying will come back to haunt that person that lies. In my opinion I will rather tell the truth to stop the cycle of lying.
