Throughout my life I have experienced many challenges, from moving away from home to trying to finish my education. However, nothing would ever prepare me for the choice I had to make recently. I had found out that I am pregnant, not only is it hard to be a mother in this day and age but even more challenging for a young teenage mother. Growing up we tell ourselves what we are going to avoid, and that it is not going to happen to me. We say this to ourselves because we look and hear about other people's experiences, and the hardships that they had to go through. I know this because I remember the exact day that I said this to myself, when I found out. The one trial that most teenage mothers have to overcome is the possibility of raising the child alone. There are many other different obstacles that come up while raising a child. This would put a halt on your education making it very difficult for you to graduate, or go to college. The lack of having an education would make finding a job very trying. Even when you find a job it would be at minimum wage, you would have to work full time to make ends meet. Saving money is very important skill to possess when you are expecting a child. Another aspect of having a child is finding somewhere that your baby and you can have a safe and secure home to live. Despite these challenges I had made up my mind to go through with the pregnancy. I know that it would be a challenge but it was one that I was willing to take, because after all I was the one to get myself in such a situation. I knew that I am a strong enough person to get through all the different challenges. Since I have been on my own practically my whole life my maturity level was more then most kids my age. So I had a pretty good understanding of the seriousness and responsibility of having a child. Threw my whole childhood growing up the experiences that I have been through I knew exactly what not to do. Because of this I would make sure that I gave my baby the best life I could inside the womb and when it comes into the world. In order to do this I enroll back into school and began setting goals. For example, getting my grade twelve, and attending four or so years of college. To make sure that I am able to achieve some of these goals I attained a full-time job. I also changed my previous spending habits and have been saving every penny that I have earned. One of the goals I have been working diligently at is having a safe and secure home before the baby arrives. I continue to learn and experience new things as this wonderful transition into motherhood goes on. I would never take back the decision that I have made. Because having the feeling of being needed and loved unconditionally is the best feeling ever. Being a mother is the most rewarding privilege, and decision that I have made.
