Since becoming named King in 2005, King Abdullah has made development a main focus. He has made major economic, social, education, health, and infrastructure projects that have brought about remarkable changes throughout the Kingdom. King Abdullah's participation in international diplomacy reflects the Kingdom's leadership role in defense of Arab and Islamic issues and for the achievement of world peace, stability, and security. On the issue of terrorism, King Abdullah has understood that citizens are taking innocent lives and it needs to be stopped. King Abdullah's notable achievements in this area include the launch of four economic cities, the creation of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University for Girls, projects to expand the Two Holy Mosques and major welfare projects. Saudi Arabia is overall a diverse country. Though the Arabian society welcomes and accepts people from other countries, the immigration factor does affect the social interaction and marriage issues. Living in a utopian society can have it's advantages and disadvantages. Theocracy is also included in this society. In this type of society, every aspect of life is governed by organized religion. Crown Prince Abdullah has led his country into a non-democratic society. While every individual is able to vote in a democracy, in an authoritarian system, citizens have very little say. Inequality plays quite a large factor in this society. In a society where resources are not evenly distributed, only the wealthiest people will have the most access to resources. With resources not being evenly distributed, starvation within the community occurs. In Third World countries such as Saudi Arabia, citizens are starving because they cannot afford to feed themselves. Life in Canada is different and far better because of our democratic system. Firstly, the elections in a democracy, every citizen, above the age of 18, is allowed to vote for who they feel would best suit the job to lead our town/city/country. In other countries, their leaders decide to operate in a different way. Whatever the leader says, goes. As citizens of democracy-based society, we have rights. The values of freedom and respect for human rights are very important. We are all entitled to freedom of speech to say what is on our minds and express what we believe. Everyone is entitled to equality. We all have the same rights and duties as citizens. For example, men's salaries compared to women's salaries. Men are paid more compared to women in some companies. Censorship in Canada is also important. In the society we are in today, from youth, to senior citizens, we are all exposed to the media. Whether it is good or bad, our government is strong enough to step in and take control. We as a society do not agree that children should be listening to profanity on the car ride to school. We care about our citizens.
